Quebec City tour

The walled city of Old (Vieux) Quebec City
After a false start on Monday (Sept 29th) due to inclement weather and the museums all being closed, we chose Tuesday, Sept 30th as our Quebec City tour day.  We arose early and got the kitties outside for their walk, then took the ferry over to Quebec City from Levis (pronounced "Lay-vee' "), as recommended by a fellow we met in Ontario at a campground while he pushed his grandchild in a carriage.... good advice!  The views were amazing... we could see the Chateau Frontenac, the government buildings, the Citadel, as well as the walled city of Old Quebec city (and the cruise ships in harbour) as we crossed the St. Lawrence Seaway - it was a perfect way to get a first impression of the old city.

The lower City and government bldgs in background, and also "Funiculaire"
which is a kind of cross between a gondola and an escalator... it takes people up to upper city from lower...

Gorgeous view of upper and lower cities

We had a lovely day, and walked for a couple of hours through the upper city - had a bowl of homemade soup at a boulangerie (bakery) in the old section, then walked over and took a guided tour of the Citadelle (the old fort) that was built to protect the city from invasions from the British (firstly) and then from the States (after the British took over the region).  The tour and the history surrounding the city and the fort, were amazing.

the Queen gave the Battalion a goat as a mascot decades ago, and  now John is the mascot and I am the commanding officer!!!
So, as we toured the old city, the kitties stayed in the trailer and waited for us to take them out.  The campground we were staying at was really cool - there was not a lot of others camping there so the kitties had pretty much a run of the whole grounds... there was a really great "promenade du chien" (dog walk)  but Sammy had trouble with the french signage...  he was more of a "sitter"...

We all enjoyed our time in Quebec and the colours were absolutely gorgeous!
